Back to Spring #103014

Back to Spring · water soluble colored pencil · 17 x 14 inches framed · $200

To keep up with drawing skills together with my love of color, I experiment with a vast collection of colored pencils. The water applied after setting down the pencil tones caused some running and smearing, giving this work a unique appearance, especially the delicate petals of the tulips. I had laid out the flowers and in a doodling way, they happened to line up in this vine-like pattern. The rhythm and gesture seem dancelike to me.

Exit Summer 2014

 #141014

Loose Lips

acrylic, 5x5, 1/2"plywood panel, $100
S&H $10

Experimenting with a wee hand turned vase and a single lily, I was excited to see unusual shapes of color twisting and turning - luring the eye into mysterious places. Does it leave you feeling intrigued or conflicted? Sure of something or ambivalent? One thing is certain: I had so much fun painting this, more petite mysteries are in the works!

I would welcome your comment below on this form. If you would like to add it to your collection you may contact me here or just

Birds of a Feather 2

Northern Harrier

colored pencil  8x8  $225

Known to migrate south in winter, I find plenty to eat right here along Rhode Island Sound. This is me last winter hunting at a ground popular with rivals for food and human onlookers - those creatures whose singular eyes are little black boxes, some very, very long and so heavy they have to prop them up on a stick.  Whenever they see me and my scrappy dinner mates, those humans start jumping up and down chattering to one another. They run back and forth in little groups like tiny sanderlings along the beach waves.
I'm spotting a Snowy Owl over there -- let's see if I can sample her dinner.

Summers Last #5

Beach Fogged In

8 x 10 in Carved Silvered Wood Frame
$400.00
To purchase contact me here or

Today on my way to the studio gratitude surged for yet another brilliant fall day and the privilege of working in a studio in one of the most charming villages on the Southcoast of New England. Visitors appeared today from many different parts of the country - Texas, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Tiverton newcomers, to name a few. One man came exploring the possibility of becoming a painter upon his retirement from practicing law. The enthusiasm and variety of my visitors fuels my zest for painting.

Earlier this week we saw days such as this one in Beach Fogged In.  The horizon at the beach looks hazier, morning fog not quite burned off. The sky shows both fish-scale and cumulus clouds - a promise of rain.

Walk the Line

Untitled

What it feels like to be THIS SHOE:

bold
cool
proud
fuschia
singular
fuh-trimmed
high fashion
excrutiating
unbalanced

just some words describing this amazing bit of personal adornment
borrowed from and painted in the garden of my late friend
whose spirit hangs out in my studio calling upon me from time to time

I hear you say,  "Think you have your lost your mind!"
After such a long break from you, My Dear Readers, do I have your attention?

OK OK! I know it is not perfectly executed. 'S watercolor and the ink ran over the intended line here and there. Painted freely from observation - silk brocade! No preliminary drawing. No plan.
If you think I would part with this, better think again.
Anyway. I'm back. Do stick around. I'm going to do a back flip the day after tomorrow.
